She leaves her comfy house; that she inhabits from birth,
The sunlight of her courtyard and the warmth of her hearth.
Moments to relish are umpteen, Memories are in no dearth;
The boundless love of her siblings, that cheer and the mirth.
She leaves behind her dearest pals and chums for you,
And embraces happily all that is ambiguous and new.
She moulds herself every time as if she’s a drop of dew,
And wins your heart with her ways so genuine and so true.
She smiles in times of despair and pretends to be gay,
Because she’s the pillar whose strength can never sway.
She toils, she will strive; she fasts and she will pray,
And yet without fail spread a smile to make your day!
She is a mate, she is a friend, and she is a loving partner,
She is the one who anchors you and always around the corner.
She brings life to this world and so she’s is the creator,
She is a lover, a wife, a soul mate, and proudly a mother.
Your dwelling of bricks became a Home the moment she came,
Our charming and docile maiden espoused to append your name.
She changed herself entirely for you and yet she got the blame,
Your treasured freedom got curtailed is still what you proclaim?

A fine piece of writing :)
ReplyDeleteI landed on your blog through Shweta's blog and must say you write really good.
I have a question....how do you do poetry? I mean I really find it difficult to write even 4 lines of a poem :D.
I agree with almost all the points you mentioned in this poem except the last stanza. Why do we men are always blamed to enjoy a freedom which as per your poem you girls are always devoid of?
These lines could well fit in case of a breed called MCP but is not true for all men. We guys have to balance two families..as this is a tradition that girls move to boys' house after marriage; at the same time we men have to shoulder an extra responsibility to take care of family our own...I agree today's woman is willing to support her man in all possible ways but primarily and morally it is man's duty to shoulder this responsibility...and believe me it is no easy task handling this pressure mentally.
At last but not the least I must say real write nice..just keep the good work going.
I wish you all the best :)
Thnks a lot Rohit for all your kind words and encouragement :) And I am not trying to hit any gentleman in particular.. I knw all men are not the same.. But have heard a lot of them lamenting over the point of losing freedom on getting married.. So just a thought.. Thnks again!! Cheers!
